Head of the School of Modern Languages (ref. Servei Idiomes)


What is the ‘Servei d’Idiomes’ (School of Modern Languages) of the CIFC?

The School of Modern Languages aims to facilitate the development of foreign language skills, offering students a range of courses to help them learn or improve their competence in languages following the highest quality standards. Our courses are open to all members of the university community (students, teachers and staff) as well as anyone over 16 years of age interested in improving their language skills. Our offer is based on the real needs of the adult and professional public.

An accurate programming of the courses, following the guidelines of the European Common Framework for Languages (CEFR), as well as a highly qualified and expert teaching team guarantee the highest level of academic quality within a higher education environment.


What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will take on the following responsibilities:

1. Managing the coordination and everyday running of all activities related to the School of Modern Languages and other tasks aligned with the general policy of the CIFC. 

2.  Communicating with students and teaching professionals.

3. Guaranteeing the highest quality in all the processes that take place within the School of Modern Languages, such as teaching activity, exams, relationships with the students as well as external clients.

4. Actively promoting the department’s offer to existing and potential students, clients and individuals as well as exploring new opportunities to develop the service further.


The candidate will be responsible for carrying out any tasks related to: managing teachers and students; creating and programming new courses; tracking sales and supervising the quality of all activities; managing processes such as student enrolment; liaising with publishers and other suppliers; promoting positioning activities; running the department’s blog and web; creating official exams; and fostering synergies with the department of Modern Languages at the Vic campus.


What are our requirements?

  • ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Academic qualification related to the post (Degree in English or similar)
  • USEFUL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING: Master’s degree in a teaching-related specialisation.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years’ experience within foreign languages teaching and/or the management of teams in language training.
  • PERSONAL SKILLS: A strong focus on quality, teamwork, proactivity, initiative and self-motivation.


Additional musts

  • Database management.
  • Experience of working with language publishers and materials.
  • Diving license and own vehicle.
