UManresa / FUB information

The Fundació Universitària del Bages (FUB) was established in 1990 as a private foundation with the aim of guaranteeing the provision of a significant range of university studies in the central regions of Catalonia, thus contributing to achieve greater geographical balance in terms of university education.

UManresa is divided into two separate faculties: The School of Health Sciences, which offers degrees in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Podiatry; and the School of Social Sciences, which offers degrees in Business Administration and Early Childhood Education.

Currently UManresa has a student population of 1,432 – of which 32% come from outside Catalonia – and over 656 members of academic staff.

From the first Nursing graduates 25 years ago up to those who graduated at the end of the 2016-2017 academic year, more than 5,000 people have completed their studies at UManresa. The average of graduated students who then go on to gain employment is 96%.

Fisioteràpia UManresa

One of the strongest healthcare projects at UManresa is the Outpatient Clinic. This Clinic is run by members of academic staff as well as a selection of students with the best academic records. The services offered by the Clinic are Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Chiropody. The Clinic also runs regular initiatives to promote early detection of health problems amongst school children.

One of the UManresa’s main objectives is to become a benchmark in public health; to this aim we have launched the ‘Healthy FUB’ initiative, a project oriented to improving the health of the University community and to supporting other institutions in the promotion of healthy habits in our society.

UManresa also offers a range of continuing education courses to complement our academic programmes. These courses are delivered through our School of Continuing Education, responsible for planning, organizing, publicising and delivering postgraduate training by means of Master’s degrees, postgraduate courses, specialist and short courses, conferences, symposiums and seminars.

UManresa campus

Campus UManresa

UManresa campus stretches over 20.000 square metres along Avinguda Universitària. It consists of three buildings: the FUB headquarters, housing academic and administrative services as well as teaching/lecturing facilities; the CU+ building, housing the University Clinic and specially-designed spaces used for both theoretical-practical sessions for Health Sciences students and clinical simulation; and FUB2 building.

UManresa campus is part of the Manresa university campus, which comprises Fundació Universitària del Bages, Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyers de Manresa and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. As a whole, the campus offers over 30 official university degrees in areas such as Health Sciences, Technical Studies, Business Administration and Early

Childhood Education, as well as a wide range of qualifications offered by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

The university campus also offers other services which are open to the wider community, such as the University Clinic, the FUB’S School of Modern Languages, and a students’ residence. It also boasts a library shared by the three universities (BCUM), housed in a renovated listed building and equipped with significant bibliographic resources.

The existing concentration of university facilities in the north of the city, with direct access from the C-25 road, creates a ring of knowledge and learning, a “Gateway to knowledge” as cited in the city’s Strategic Plan for 2015.

Manresa - a university city

UManresa is located in Manresa, a small city of approximately 80,000 inhabitants strategically situated in the heart of Catalonia. It is an hour away from Barcelona, half way between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees, overlooked by the mountain of Montserrat.

Manresa is the capital of the Bages region and as such it promotes industry, trade, services, sport and culture through the entire region. Consequently it boasts impressive cultural facilities and an excellent commercial, gastronomic and leisure offering.
In terms of tertiary education, Manresa enjoys a shared Campus (UManresa, UPC and UOC), a university library and a hall of residence to accommodate 100 students.

Manresa has a rich cultural and historic heritage; it is certainly worth taking time to visit its medieval centre, with the magnificent Gothic basilica of Santa Maria de la Seu, the “Pont Vell” Roman bridge, the Baroque churches and the Modernist architecture route.
