Dual programme: alternance training

All higher vocational training programmes (CFGS) at the UManresa Professional Campus are offered in dual modality (training combining periods in an education institution or training centre and in the workplace). Therefore, if the student wishes and meets the necessary criteria, they have the option to undertake a part of their training in a professional setting. In this case, the work placement module and the dual programme provided in the curriculum are carried out in a company within the specialty sector of the training diploma, whether as an employee or as an intern.

The stay at the company in the dual programme is divided into two phases.

  • Work placement phase: The aim is for the student to adapt to the company's functioning. It lasts approximately 100 hours and is unpaid.
  • Dual training at the company: Upon completion of the work placement period, the paid stay begins. The relationship between the company and the student is facilitated through an employment contract or a scholarship. It lasts between 900 and 1,000 hours.

Dual training requires an agreement between the company and the UManresa Professional Campus, which is articulated through an apprenticeship agreement. Among other commitments, the company must appoint a supervisor to monitor the apprentice and coordinate with the educational institution's responsible personnel.

Dual training at the company offers benefits to both companies and students.

For business, dual training brings back the apprentice model, fostering a strong connection between learning and the company's specific needs, processes, and ethos.

For students, balancing classroom education with a contract or a scholarship in a company provides a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience and improve their employability.
