Programme Description
Physiotherapy plays a fundamental role in the treatment of primary and secondary headaches, orofacial pain (OP), temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and vestibular syndromes (VS). These clinical conditions often require a multidisciplinary approach within specialised units, which are currently increasing across Spain and Catalonia.
The Postgraduate Programme in Physiotherapy for Headaches, Temporomandibular Disorders and Vestibular Syndromes responds both to the growing demand from patients suffering from migraine, tension-type headache, headaches secondary to cervical pathology, temporomandibular disorders, temporomandibular joint dysfunctions, neuropathic orofacial pain, tinnitus, bruxism, dizziness, instability and vertigo, and to the need to incorporate specialised physiotherapists in this field in order to improve patient care.
Due to the quality of its contents, teaching staff, career opportunities and learning methodology, this postgraduate programme is unique in the region.
Programme Objectives
The main objective of the Postgraduate Programme in Physiotherapy for Headaches, Temporomandibular Disorders and Vestibular Syndromes is to train physiotherapists specialised in the assessment and treatment of these complex conditions, providing them with the clinical and methodological tools necessary to work in specialised units or in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
- Identify and assess the main types of headaches, temporomandibular dysfunctions and vestibular syndromes from a physiotherapy perspective.
- Apply evidence-based treatment protocols for each of these conditions.
- Integrate into specialised units in neurology, dentistry, otorhinolaryngology or vestibular rehabilitation, working in coordination with other healthcare professionals.
- Develop solid clinical reasoning to adapt interventions to the individual needs of each patient.
Testimonial
"Unique in its field and with an innovative teaching methodology. It provides training to address the different pathologies and syndromes, and to improve the care process for these patients."
Jordi Padrós Augé - Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in Physiotherapy for Headaches, Temporomandibular Disorders and Vestibular Syndromes
