Programme Description

The diversity of intravascular devices and implantation techniques, together with the complexity of current pharmacotherapy and the need for early detection and effective management of complications, makes specific training in the field of infusion therapy and vascular access essential.

To address this need, UManresa—together with experts and in collaboration with Althaia, Xarxa Assistencial Universitària de Manresa—has designed a master’s programme aimed at providing participants with both theoretical and practical knowledge in infusion therapy and vascular access, as well as the skills needed to work as specialised nurses in this field.

Bacteraemia 0 and phlebitis 0 programmes.
Hand hygiene and universal precautions.
Skin antisepsis. Types of antiseptics.

Module 2: The Importance of Infusion and Vascular Access Teams

History of EIAV teams.
Legal aspects of informed consent and adverse events.
Excellence in the creation of infusion and vascular access teams.

Module 3: Master’s Final Project

Module 4: Pharmacotherapy

Pharmacology.
Pharmacotherapy and its clinical application. Incompatible drugs.
Osmolarity, osmolality, and pH.
Cytostatics.
Basic aspects of antineoplastic drug infusion.
Definition and indications of Parenteral Nutrition (PN).

Four weeks (160 hours), to be completed between April and June 2027, depending on student and EIAV availability.

Students may complete their clinical placement in national or international hospitals that have an EIAV, or request validation of the placement.
