Programme description
Dysfunctions of the urogenital system are common health problems that occur throughout a woman’s life cycle. They lead to a deterioration in quality of life and have an impact on the professional, psychosocial, emotional and sexual spheres.
The midwife is the healthcare professional who accompanies women throughout their entire life cycle and therefore plays a key role both in prevention and in the treatment of urogenital system dysfunctions.
The Postgraduate Programme in Urogynaecology: Comprehensive Pelvic Floor Management for Midwives is aimed at the specialisation of midwives in the field of urogynaecology, in order to provide a comprehensive approach to the different pelvic floor dysfunctions and pathologies that may arise in women throughout their lives.
This is a pioneering postgraduate programme at national level which, through a highly practical approach based on seminars, workshops and simulations, enables participants to acquire the knowledge and skills required to intervene in the field of female urogenital dysfunctions.
Programme objectives
- To acquire the anatomical and physiological knowledge necessary to assess the correct functioning of the pelvi-abdominal and urogynaecological system.
- To develop the necessary tools to apply appropriate therapeutic methodologies in the different pathologies and dysfunctions in gynaecology, urology and sexology.
- To understand the methodology of examinations and conservative treatments, as well as medical treatments for the different pathologies.
