The overall cost covers 60 credits, EXCLUDING annual academic management fees and insurance. The registration fee is determined by the number of credits enrolled for. The subjects in the first year accumulate to a total of 60 credits unless opting for part-time enrolment (slow track).

Subsidy Eligibility

This programme is eligible for potential subsidies through the “Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo”, contingent upon the availability of credits. Alternatively, in the event that the training is carried out during working hours, the company can deduct the salary costs of the hours that the employee invests in training as PIF - Individual Training Allowance.

General admission requirements

Eligibility Criteria for University Master's Degree:

• Possession of an official Spanish university degree, irrespective of the level and duration of the degree.
• Holding a degree from a higher education institution in another country within the EHEA, granting access to master's courses in the issuing country.
• Possessing a foreign university degree from a non-EHEA country, without the need for approval, at a training level equivalent to an official state university degree, allowing access to postgraduate studies in the country of origin.
• If you are currently pursuing an official degree at a Spanish university and only need to complete the end-of-degree project to obtain the degree, you may prioritise enrolment by formalising pre-registration and conditionally registering for the master's programme in the final period of the procedural calendar. The condition is that you demonstrate the registration of the end-of-degree project and your ability to obtain the degree during the same academic year as the master's programme. Obtaining a university master's degree is strictly contingent upon having previously obtained an official bachelor's degree.

Specific requirements for each master's degree

Apart from the general entry requirements, each master's degree has specific admission requirements and selection criteria.

Please note that this degree does not grant the right to practise a healthcare profession in Spain.

Access for foreign students

In accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007, as amended by Royal Decree 861/2010 and Royal Decree 43/2015 dated February 2nd, eligibility for enrolment in an official master's programme requires one of the following qualifications:

• An official Spanish university degree, regardless of the level and duration.
• A degree issued by a higher education institution in another state within the EHEA, qualifying for access to master's programmes in the issuing country.
• A foreign university degree from a non-EHEA country, without the need for official approval, equivalent to the level of training of an official Spanish university degree, granting access to postgraduate studies in the country of origin.

The university will verify that the degrees attest to a level of training equivalent to official Spanish university degrees and that they qualify for master's studies in the country of issuance. Admission to a university master's programme does not imply approval of the foreign degree or its recognition for any purposes other than studying. Nevertheless, upon completion of the studies, the obtained master's degree will hold full official validity.

Studies outside Spain

The UVic-UCC accepts documents issued in Catalan, Spanish, or English. If the original document is in a language other than these, it must be accompanied by a sworn translation. Non-Spanish documents must be official and issued by the competent authorities, following the legal system of the respective country, and, if required, should be legalised. Please refer to the procedure for document legalisation.

For admission to university master's level studies, official approval of the degree is not mandatory. However, it is essential to submit one of the documents listed below:

1. If your degree has been officially approved in the Spanish state, you need to provide a certified copy of the approval certificate issued by the Ministry of Education.
2. If your degree has not been officially approved, you should submit a certificate affirming that, with the completed studies, you are eligible to pursue studies at a minimum master's level (level 3 of the MECES (Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications) or 7 of the EQF (European Qualifications Framework) or its equivalent in the country where the studies were undertaken.

Studies carried out within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)

For those who have studied within the EHEA, the European Supplement to the Degree can be submitted instead of the documents mentioned in the previous point, as long as it specifies your eligibility for at least master's level studies. In the absence of a European Supplement to the Title, the same documentation as outlined in the previous section (studies outside of Spain) must be presented.

Admission requirements

To enrol in the master’s degree in Physiotherapy of the Musculoskeletal System, it is imperative to hold a bachelor's degree and/or diploma in physiotherapy or an equivalent foreign university qualification.

Selection criteria

In instances where the number of applications from individuals meeting the requirements exceeds the available course capacity, the selection of candidates for admission will be based on the following merit assessment criteria:

• The cumulative grade point average of the academic record in previously completed studies: 50%
  • Average grade of the academic record of the access degree multiplied by 0.40
• The amount of relevant professional experience, specifically in the field of the master's programme: 30%
  • Over 5 years: 3 points
  • Between 3 and 5 years: 2 points
  • Between 1 and 2 years: 1 point
• A statement of objectives, stating the candidate's personal motivation and the objectives that led them to apply for a place in the master’s programme: 10%
  • Adequacy: up to 2 points
• Demonstrated competence in a third language: 5%
  • Level B2 or higher: 2 points
  • Level B1: 1 point
• Mobility during previous studies: (5%)
  • Accredited mobility: 2 points

Application for a university place

The application period for a place in Master's degree in Physiotherapy of the Musculoskeletal System is open from March 15th to September 15th, 2023. If you apply before June 16th, you will benefit from a 10% discount on registration fees.

1. A certified copy of the Spanish Identity Document (or passport for foreign applicants).
2. A Personal Academic Certificate of the university degree or a certified copy detailing all completed and passed subjects, including the number of hours/credits and corresponding grades. For studies undertaken abroad, the document should specify the grading system applied. Optionally, this document can be replaced by the European Title Supplement.
3. A certified copy of the degree or university transcript.
4. Your curriculum vitae.
5. A motivational letter.
6. Accrediting documentation, if applicable, for the specific requirements necessary for admission to the master's degree.

Upon receipt of the documentation, the master's coordinator will initiate contact to schedule an interview, and admission will subsequently be communicated.

The Tutorial Guidance and Action Plan (POAT) was approved by the UVic-UCC Governing Council on December 1, 2015. In defining this Plan, the University has established its understanding of tutorial guidance and action, and has set out the fundamental principles and specific objectives to be achieved by students, faculty, and the educational community. 

The POAT applies to all UVic-UCC centers, whether owned, federated, affiliated, or associated, and it is developed annually in accordance with the operational plan of each center, approved by their respective governing councils. This operational plan makes it possible to identify the planned measures to be applied in each degree program and also allows for proper monitoring and evaluation. 

Priorities and objectives of tutorial action

At the Manresa campus of UVic-UCC, we ensure that the tutoring process is present throughout the entire training process of the master’s program (individual tutoring sessions and group sessions at the beginning of each semester). We believe it is important to focus on welcoming students, facilitating their integration into the university, and providing follow-up and support throughout the training. Finally, students receive guidance from various professional roles in the current context and on job opportunities, both in professional and research fields, resulting from completing the master’s degree in question.

According to the Royal Decree 1393/2007, dated October 29th, governing official university courses, the culmination of studies leading to the official master’s degree involves the creation and public defence of a master's thesis. This crucial requirement is integral to the attainment of the official master’s degree. Thus, the Final Master's Thesis (FMT) holds a pivotal role in the Master's degree in Physiotherapy of the Musculoskeletal System. Positioned as a mandatory component, the FMT represents a culminating stage at the conclusion of the master's educational process.

Objective of the Final Master's Thesis

The primary aim of the Final Master's Thesis (FMT) is to culminate the student's comprehensive learning from the master’s programme by synthesizing acquired knowledge. It involves the creation and defence of an original thesis within a chosen research line proposed in the master's framework. The central goal is to meticulously prepare and publicly present a research project, seeking accreditation through a panel evaluation.

Situated at the conclusion of the master's degree, the FMT serves as a platform for students to consolidate foundational knowledge while encouraging innovation and expansion within their chosen study area, particularly in simulation. This approach, viewed from a global and integrative perspective, aims to address questions and contribute valuable insights.

The research process, coupled with acquired knowledge, enhances the student's education through scientific evidence and interdisciplinary dialogue.

The successful completion of the FMT ensures that students acquire both generic and specific skills aligned with the master’s programme. Emphasis is placed on skills related to understanding, acquiring, developing, and integrating scientific and specific knowledge related to simulation. The focus extends to generating new knowledge, fostering learning, innovation, and transferability, with considerations for ethical and diversity aspects.

During this process, the student will develop the essential skills of bibliographic research, documentary management of knowledge and critical reading, vital for evaluating scientific information. In turn, these skills are necessary for the generation of critical reflection or new knowledge.

Derived from these basic skills, the student will also acquire and develop a whole range of transversal and specific skills related to critical reflection on knowledge in all its dimensions, the identification of needs and new realities that allow innovation to be generated in the different areas of professional practice, and the active use of creative thinking applied to the resolution of research questions.

Furthermore, the FMT facilitates the acquisition of effective communication skills, encompassing oral, written, and audiovisual forms. Proficiency in information and communication technologies (ICT) related to research and scientific knowledge dissemination is also emphasized.

In its entirety, the FMT will act as a tool to acquire the necessary and sufficient skills to interpret, propose, generate and analyse scientific information around the simulation methodology from all points of view.

As the culminating product of the FMT is a research project developed within the university master’s in simulation methodology applied to the training of healthcare and social sciences professionals, it aligns thematically in accordance with the lines of research and innovation marked by the master’s degree itself. These lines can be summarized as:

The Final Master's Thesis (FMT) offers the flexibility to structure its content along two distinct lines of work. The potential formats for presenting the master’s thesis include:

Simultaneously, a key objective of the FMT is to generate substantial and high-quality knowledge so that it can be transferred to companies, institutions, society or other researchers engaged in simulation. To achieve this goal, the FMT has the capability to propose developmental activities in collaboration with institutions, companies, or active research groups associated with simulation. This collaboration, whether at a national or international level, is facilitated through prior agreements. The aim is to streamline and enhance the direct and practical transfer of knowledge acquired by the student during the FMT.

Classrooms

• FUB3 gym room with 13 treatment tables (capacity for up to 30 people)
• FUB2 small-sized theoretical classroom

All classrooms are equipped with a computer, video projector, screen, speakers, and network/internet connectivity.

Study rooms

Two dedicated study rooms are available, featuring 15 and 6 computers, respectively, which have internet connection. The rooms are equipped with tables and chairs which allow both individual and group work.

Library

The Campus library offers a specialised bone loan service tailored for physiotherapy students.

University Clinic

Ultrasound and simulation classes take place at the University Clinic (LAB-INN and CISARC), featuring dedicated areas for the different studies.

The LAB-INN classroom is well-equipped with essential amenities, including a computer, projector, screen, speakers, and network/internet connectivity. Additionally, it houses four high-end ultrasound scanners.

The simulation rooms are furnished with:

• A debriefing room
• A simulation room
• An office table, treatment table, physiotherapy service materials
• Changing rooms for students

Virtual spaces

Undergraduate students can benefit from:

• An intranet providing access to all relevant master’s degree documentation.
• A Moodle platform for accessing all degree-related subjects, available through the intranet.
• The MFT platform, facilitating the submission of assignments and where specific evaluations for the MFT tutorials can be retrieved.
