Programme description
UManresa has promoted the creation of the Chair of Values-Based Leadership at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia with the aim of creating conditions that enable individuals, teams and organizations to use leadership to promote positive change in their environment. This initiative is complemented by this leadership course, which allows participants to deepen their understanding of these values and their practical application.
The programme is led by Pep Guardiola and Manel Estiarte and supported by a large number of leading figures from the academic, social and economic spheres.
The Chair has developed its conceptual framework based on the professional and personal careers of its two directors. Thus, on a playing field, twelve pairs of activators (values) are connected to four dimensions (person, team, organization and environment) and together form the pieces that shape a proprietary theoretical model explaining and defining different styles of values-based leadership.
Values such as role modelling, honesty, discipline, commitment, generosity, courage, innovation, excellence and gratitude are organized in this model on an imaginary playing field, following a football line-up. Each contains a seed of ethical leadership that translates into behaviours, attitudes and experiences, enabling them to move from abstraction to practical application.
The 4-3-3 line-up is completed with a 1, the goalkeeper, and another 1, the twelfth player, the audience. Read through horizontal lines, this line-up leads to a four-dimensional model that allows reflection from both an organizational and a personal perspective. From the organizational viewpoint, leadership is structured from the self to the environment, through the team and the organization. From the personal perspective, it invites reflection on what one feels, says, thinks or does, the relationships established with others, and finally questioning why one does what one does.
The arrangement of values on the field also facilitates the identification of different intelligences linked to leadership: intrapersonal, emotional, interpersonal and spiritual/existential, elements explored in depth throughout this leadership course.
Why should you take this programme?
- Unique theoretical model: Based on the experiences of Pep Guardiola and Manel Estiarte, the leadership course offers an innovative conceptual framework that organizes values on an imaginary playing field, facilitating understanding and application.
- Core values: The programme emphasizes values such as role modelling, honesty, discipline, commitment, generosity, courage, innovation, excellence and gratitude, all essential for developing ethical and effective leadership.
- Academic and professional support: With the backing of numerous leading figures from the academic, social and economic worlds, the leadership course guarantees high-quality, relevant training.
- Holistic development: The 4-3-3 model, inspired by football formations, enables reflection on leadership across four dimensions (person, team, organization and environment), fostering comprehensive development at both personal and organizational levels.
