Programme description
Clinical simulation has become established in recent years as one of the learning methodologies with the greatest potential in undergraduate and postgraduate university education, as well as in the continuous professional development of practitioners. Its incorporation responds to a shared need among institutions and organisations to move towards training models oriented towards excellence, with a direct impact on key areas such as patient safety, the development of technical and non-technical skills, coordination and teamwork, as well as the organisation and planning of healthcare and professional processes.
In this context, simulation has moved beyond its initial conception as a didactic tool to become a high-value pedagogical and organisational methodology. The recreation of scenarios close to professional reality enables deep experiential learning, fostering the integrated development of transversal and specific competencies, and connecting knowing, knowing how to do, and knowing how to be in complex, real-life situations.
Beyond skills training, simulation is configured as a privileged space for the analysis of professional practice, decision-making and shared reflection. Its potential lies in its ability to generate meaningful experiences that allow the review of mental models, the exploration of alternative courses of action and the strengthening of coherence between values, knowledge and action.
We firmly believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for driving improvement in individuals and organisations. For this reason, this master’s programme not only offers knowledge and tools, but also proposes a transformative, demanding and shared experience, oriented towards professional and personal growth.
Within this framework, the master’s programme has been developed in collaboration with international leaders in the field of simulation, such as Pier Luigi Ingrassia and Gustavo Norte, whose contributions significantly support the development and updating of the programme. Their experience in simulation, patient safety, emergency management and professional training reinforces the applied nature of the master’s programme and its connection with current international standards and challenges in simulation.
Throughout recent editions, the programme has benefited from the collaboration of Carmen Gomar Sancho, whose professional and academic background brings an expert perspective closely linked to quality of care, professional ethics and patient safety. Her participation in the development of the master’s studies strengthens the programme’s reflective and strategic approach, integrating simulation as a key tool for improving clinical practice, decision-making and professional leadership in complex environments.
