Podiatry is a profession with great future prospects linked to the growing importance we give to foot health. The podiatrist works with children, the elderly, athletes or people who have to be on their feet for a long time due to their work. It is a very rewarding option for those who like to help and interact with others.
The degree in Podiatry trains professionals to promote, prevent, maintain or recover the health of foot-related conditions, valuing their relationship with the entire musculoskeletal system, diagnosing, prescribing and performing all types of podiatric, orthopaedic, chiropody, surgical, physical, pharmacological and preventive treatments in the educational, social and health fields.
Podiatrists trained at UManresa, like those from other universities in Spain, enjoy great prestige in the European Union due to the range of their competences and skill sets, including podiatric surgery. In addition to the legal ability to care for patients directly, podiatrists may prescribe medications.
In UManresa, you will find highly qualified teachers with a great familiarity with professional practice and a highly personalised and individualised educational programme. With them, you will be able to train in the different aspects of the profession: the biomechanical study of the lower extremities; the manufacture of plantar supports and prostheses, both with traditional techniques and with 3D technology and design with CAD-CAM; foot surgery; or chiropody linked to skin and nail conditions.
UManresa’ s facilities are equipped with the most modern technology for teaching podiatry, both for biomechanical exploration and analysis, and for podiatric surgery.
