Accreditation

The university master’s degree in simulation methodology applied to the training of healthcare and social sciences professionals is issued by the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia. This accreditation enables graduates to pursue various doctoral programmes.

Subsidy Eligibility

This programme is eligible for potential subsidies through the “Fundación Estatal para la Formación en el Empleo”, contingent upon the availability of credits. Alternatively, in the event that the training is carried out during working hours, the company can deduct the salary costs of the hours that the employee invests in training as PIF - Individual Training Allowance.

General admission requirements

Eligibility Criteria for University Master's Degree:

• Possession of an official Spanish university degree, irrespective of the level and duration of the degree.
• Holding a degree from a higher education institution in another country within the EHEA, granting access to master's courses in the issuing country.
• Possessing a foreign university degree from a non-EHEA country, without the need for approval, at a training level equivalent to an official state university degree, allowing access to postgraduate studies in the country of origin.
• If you are currently pursuing an official degree at a Spanish university and only need to complete the end-of-degree project to obtain the degree, you may prioritise enrolment by formalising pre-registration and conditionally registering for the master's programme in the final period of the procedural calendar. The condition is that you demonstrate the registration of the end-of-degree project and your ability to obtain the degree during the same academic year as the master's programme. Obtaining a university master's degree is strictly contingent upon having previously obtained an official bachelor's degree.

Specific requirements for each master's degree

Apart from the general entry requirements, each master's degree has specific admission requirements and selection criteria.

Please note that this degree does not grant the right to practise a healthcare profession in Spain.

Access for foreign students

In accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007, as amended by Royal Decree 861/2010 and Royal Decree 43/2015 dated February 2nd, eligibility for enrolment in an official master's programme requires one of the following qualifications:

• An official Spanish university degree, regardless of the level and duration.
• A degree issued by a higher education institution in another state within the EHEA, qualifying for access to master's programmes in the issuing country.
• A foreign university degree from a non-EHEA country, without the need for official approval, equivalent to the level of training of an official Spanish university degree, granting access to postgraduate studies in the country of origin.

The university will verify that the degrees attest to a level of training equivalent to official Spanish university degrees and that they qualify for master's studies in the country of issuance. Admission to a university master's programme does not imply approval of the foreign degree or its recognition for any purposes other than studying. Nevertheless, upon completion of the studies, the obtained master's degree will hold full official validity.

Studies outside Spain

The UVic-UCC accepts documents issued in Catalan, Spanish, or English. If the original document is in a language other than these, it must be accompanied by a sworn translation. Non-Spanish documents must be official and issued by the competent authorities, following the legal system of the respective country, and, if required, should be legalised. Please refer to the procedure for document legalisation.

For admission to university master's level studies, official approval of the degree is not mandatory. However, it is essential to submit one of the documents listed below:

1. If your degree has been officially approved in the Spanish state, you need to provide a certified copy of the approval certificate issued by the Ministry of Education.
2. If your degree has not been officially approved, you should submit a certificate affirming that, with the completed studies, you are eligible to pursue studies at a minimum master's level (level 3 of the MECES (Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications) or 7 of the EQF (European Qualifications Framework) or its equivalent in the country where the studies were undertaken.

Studies carried out within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)

For those who have studied within the EHEA, the European Supplement to the Degree can be submitted instead of the documents mentioned in the previous point, as long as it specifies your eligibility for at least master's level studies. In the absence of a European Supplement to the Title, the same documentation as outlined in the previous section (studies outside of Spain) must be presented.

Admission requirements

Those interested in taking the university master’s degree in simulation methodology, in addition to meeting the general access requirements, must accredit the following two admission requirements:

• Hold a university degree in the field of healthcare sciences (preferably in medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, podiatry, speech therapy, social work, human nutrition and dietetics and psychology) or social sciences (preferably in Pedagogy, Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Sociology, Anthropology, Business Studies, Economics, Law and Labour Relations).
• Possess a minimum of three years of teaching experience or, alternatively, demonstrate three years or more of practical involvement in the training areas within a company’s human resources department.

Selection Criteria

The UVic-UCC master's degree regulations encompass a set of criteria specifically tailored for this master's programme, designed to evaluate and assess the qualifications of prospective students. These criteria are weighted as follows:

• Relevance of previous degree to the master’s programme described in the previous point: (30%)
• The cumulative grade point average of the academic record in previously completed studies: (10%)
• The amount of relevant professional experience exceeding the minimum admission prerequisites, specifically in the field of the master's programme: (30%)
• Demonstrated competence in a third language beyond what is minimally required for admission: (5%):
• Mobility during previous studies: (5%)
• The feasibility of applying competencies acquired from the programme in a practical context, to be supported by an endorsing statement from an organisation or company, or the academic head of a university, specifying the intent to undertake a training course or research project involving these competencies: (20%)

Application for a university place

The application period for a place in the university master’s in Simulation Methodology applied to the Training of Healthcare and Social Sciences Professionals is open from March 15th to September 15th, 2023. If you apply before June 16th, you will benefit from a 10% discount on registration fees.

For studies undertaken abroad, the document should specify the grading system applied. Optionally, this document can be replaced by the European Title Supplement.
3. A certified copy of the degree or university transcript.
4. Your curriculum vitae.
5. A motivational letter.
6. Accrediting documentation, if applicable, for the specific requirements necessary for admission to the master's degree.

Upon receipt of the documentation, the master's coordinator will initiate contact to schedule an interview, and admission will subsequently be communicated.

El Pla d'Orientació i Acció Tutorial (POAT) va ser aprovat pel Consell de Govern de la UVic-UCC el dia 1 de desembre de 2015. En la concreció d'aquest Pla, la Universitat ha establert com entén l'orientació i acció tutorial i n'ha determinat els principis fonamentals i els objectius específics que ha d'assolir l'estudiantat, el professorat i la comunitat educativa. 

El POAT s'aplica a tots els centres de la UVic-UCC, ja siguin centres propis, federats, vinculats o adscrits, i es desenvolupa de manera anual d'acord amb el Pla operatiu de centre que s'aprova en els consells de govern de centre respectius. Aquest pla operatiu permet identificar les mesures previstes que cal aplicar en cadascuna de les titulacions i també permet fer-ne el seguiment i l'avaluació pertinent. 

Prioritats i objectius de l'acció tutorial  

Dins del programa formatiu de l'estudiantat del Màster universitari en Metodologia de la Simulació aplicada a la Formació de Professionals de Ciències de la Salut i Socials, el pla d'acció tutorial s'entén com un element primordial i, sobretot, integrat en aquest procés de formació. 

És per aquest motiu, que aquest pla d'acció tutorial està configurat per diferents elements que permeten identificar i visualitzar àrees de millora de l'estudiantat, tot establint accions que afavoreixin la seva evolució en el transcurs de la formació. 

El pla d'acció tutorial està configurat per: 

1. Tutories individualitzades: es realitzen dues tutories durant l'any acadèmic que permeten a l'estudiantat, segons l'assessorament de dos docents, establir un procés de millora per a les seves necessitats formatives personals. 
2. Sessions tutoritzades grupals, que acompanyen les tutories individuals, i que s'anomenen espais Team-Safety. L'objectiu d'aquestes sessions és que l'estudiantat, de manera conjunta, pugui disposar de tutories d'orientació amb un membre de l'equip docent per gestionar dificultats que, de vegades, es donen en els equips quan s'ha de treballar de forma conjunta.  Això permet facilitar aquest procés a l'estudiantat i també visualitzar quines estratègies didàctiques utilitza la docència segons les seves demandes. 

Tot això queda reflectit en una activitat formativa i d'avaluació: el Pla de Millora Individual. Les tutories i les sessions són suports que té l'estudiantat per dur a terme aquesta activitat i per ajudar en el seus procés reflexiu.

UNIVERSITÀRIA

L'estudiantat de màster universitari de la FUB té un tutor/a que l'acompanya al llarg de la seva formació, i que és la seva persona de referència a la Universitat.

L'objectiu és: fer una identificació personalitzada de les necessitats de suport i d'orientació en els processos de matrícula i d'inici de la docència. Fer un seguiment individualitzat a través del Servei d'Assessorament per a Estudiants amb Diversitat Funcional (SAEDF).

Aquestes accions es desenvolupen en el marc de titulacions específiques que tenen un nombre important de persones estudiants que procedeixen d'altres sistemes educatius estrangers, l'objectiu de les quals és promoure una adaptació ràpida a la nostra universitat i establir un entorn de treball multicultural.

According to the Royal Decree 1393/2007, dated October 29th, governing official university courses, the culmination of studies leading to the official master’s degree involves the creation and public defence of a master's thesis. This crucial requirement is integral to the attainment of the official master’s degree. Thus, the Final Master's Thesis (FMT) holds a pivotal role in the university master’s programme in simulation methodology applied to the training of professionals in healthcare and social sciences. Positioned as a mandatory component, the FMT represents a culminating stage at the conclusion of the master's educational process.

Objective of the Final Master's Thesis

The primary aim of the Final Master's Thesis (FMT) is to culminate the student's comprehensive learning from the master’s programme by synthesizing acquired knowledge. It involves the creation and defence of an original thesis within a chosen research line proposed in the master's framework. The central goal is to meticulously prepare and publicly present a research project, seeking accreditation through a panel evaluation.

Situated at the conclusion of the master's degree, the FMT serves as a platform for students to consolidate foundational knowledge while encouraging innovation and expansion within their chosen study area, particularly in simulation. This approach, viewed from a global and integrative perspective, aims to address questions and contribute valuable insights.

The research process, coupled with acquired knowledge, enhances the student's education through scientific evidence and interdisciplinary dialogue.

The successful completion of the FMT ensures that students acquire both generic and specific skills aligned with the master’s programme. Emphasis is placed on skills related to understanding, acquiring, developing, and integrating scientific and specific knowledge related to simulation. The focus extends to generating new knowledge, fostering learning, innovation, and transferability, with considerations for ethical and diversity aspects.

During this process, the student will develop the essential skills of bibliographic research, documentary management of knowledge and critical reading, vital for evaluating scientific information. In turn, these skills are necessary for the generation of critical reflection or new knowledge.

Derived from these basic skills, the student will also acquire and develop a whole range of transversal and specific skills related to critical reflection on knowledge in all its dimensions, the identification of needs and new realities that allow innovation to be generated in the different areas of professional practice, and the active use of creative thinking applied to the resolution of research questions.

Furthermore, the FMT facilitates the acquisition of effective communication skills, encompassing oral, written, and audiovisual forms. Proficiency in information and communication technologies (ICT) related to research and scientific knowledge dissemination is also emphasized.

In its entirety, the FMT will act as a tool to acquire the necessary and sufficient skills to interpret, propose, generate and analyse scientific information around the simulation methodology from all points of view.

As the culminating product of the FMT is a research project developed within the university master’s in simulation methodology applied to the training of healthcare and social sciences professionals, it aligns thematically in accordance with the lines of research and innovation marked by the master’s degree itself. These lines can be summarized as:

• The design and application of simulation cases focused on clinical, business or group management experiences.
• The investigation of resources to support and facilitate the simulation.
• The design of assessment tools for simulation and its transfer and impact.
• The deepening of the areas and objectives of the application of the simulation.
• Analysis of the simulation methodology.

 
The Final Master's Thesis (FMT) offers the flexibility to structure its content along two distinct lines of work. The potential formats for presenting the master’s thesis include:

• Classic research report
• Bibliographic review study

Simultaneously, a key objective of the FMT is to generate substantial and high-quality knowledge so that it can be transferred to companies, institutions, society or other researchers engaged in simulation. To achieve this goal, the FMT has the capability to propose developmental activities in collaboration with institutions, companies, or active research groups associated with simulation. This collaboration, whether at a national or international level, is facilitated through prior agreements. The aim is to streamline and enhance the direct and practical transfer of knowledge acquired by the student during the FMT.

SGIQ

El sistema de garantia interna de la qualitat (SGIQ) és una peça clau en la validació de les titulacions universitàries oficials i en el funcionament dels centres docents de la UVic-UCC. A més, és un dels requisits que s'estableixen en les diferents normes que regulen aquests ensenyaments.

D'una banda, des de 2007, per a la implantació de noves titulacions de grau, màster i doctorat, els Reials decrets 1393/2007 i 99/2011, exigeixen que aquestes comptin amb un SGIQ implantat, el disseny del qual es va avaluar, en el cas de la UVic-UCC, en l'etapa de verificació del sistema l'any 2008. D'altra banda, des de 2015, el Reial Decret 420/2015 estableix l'acreditació institucional en què la certificació de la implantació de l'SGIQ és l'eix central d'aquest reconeixement.

Per això, els centres docents de la UVic-UCC garanteixen que les seves actuacions asseguren l'assoliment dels objectius associats a la impartició de les titulacions que ofereixen, complint amb la seva política de qualitat a través dels seus propis SGIQ formalment establerts i públicament disponibles.

Centre for Innovation in Simulation (CISARC)

The Centre for Innovation in Simulation (CISARC) spans a dedicated 1,000-square-metre area situated on the second floor of the University Clinic. This space is divided into eight simulation units, each equipped to operate concurrently. Within these units, comprising simulation spaces, debriefing areas, and technical control zones, a remarkable 50 distinct scenarios can be executed. This versatility facilitates teaching across a spectrum ranging from healthcare sciences to social sciences. Additionally, in the event of all facilities operating simultaneously, the CISARC has the capacity to train up to 120 individuals at the same time, thanks to the support of its interdisciplinary team of simulation-trained professionals.

Cutting edge Technology

To enable the simultaneous operation of the different units, the Centre for Innovation in Simulation is equipped with technology specially designed for simulation purposes. Notably, the SimCapture system excels in managing image and sound files, documenting all simulation activities for subsequent review.

Furthermore, the facility is equipped with recording cameras located both on the stages and in the observation and analysis areas. This makes it possible to study both the simulation and the methodological processes employed, fostering research opportunities based on this information.

At the same time, the CISARC extends its facilities and expertise to innovation and product development departments, facilitating product tests to evaluate impact, responsiveness, and alignment with organisational needs. In this same line, the centre has established collaborative partnerships with select companies to drive applied research projects and foster knowledge transfer initiatives.
